A local coach doing something properly inspiring.
Eddie caught our attention through the content he shared from his village in Tanzania. Every day, he was helping large groups of young people train using the most basic equipment available.
He runs sessions for orphans and underprivileged members of his community, giving them focus, building their confidence and helping to improve their health. He was doing all of this with scrap metal, spare wheels, metal cogs and rusty bars.
The original setup

Making the most of whatever was available.

We contacted
Eddie and said
we wanted to
help.
We set out to provide more than £1,000 worth of gym equipment for free, giving Eddie and his community safer, more reliable kit to train with. A crowdfunding campaign also helped towards the cost of getting everything from the UK to Tanzania.
The shipping and logistics were a real challenge. At one point we even thought the equipment had gone missing, but it eventually reached a very grateful Eddie and is now being used every day.

Eddie trains people every day and has become a much-loved community hero. We simply wanted to help him keep that work going.
Ryan - Recharge Fitness
Getting the local
village active.
The new equipment sits alongside the resourceful kit Eddie was already using. Dumbbells, benches, barbells and plates have made the setup more practical, while the local surroundings still play a big part in how the community trains.

MORE THAN GYM EQUIPMENT
A stronger setup for an
already strong community.
Eddie was creating a positive impact long before we became involved. We are proud that Recharge equipment can now play a small part in the work he continues to do.
